Qld: Rough surf claims life of male windsurfer

Police say a Cairns man has died after a wind surfing accident on Queensland's Sunshine
Coast yesterday.

The 43-year-old man apparently experienced difficulties in heavy surf at the Caloundra bar.

A person in a nearby high rise unit spotted him and notified police about 3.10 (AEST)
yesterday afternoon.

Water police and surf life savers found the man floating face down .. and tried to
resuscitate him.

Police say he was taken by ambulance to Caloundra Hospital where he died a short time later.

A report is to be prepared for the coroner.
