The Albany Firebirds' troubles worsened Wednesday when star receiver Eddie Brown, the team's most recognizable player, became the third team member to threaten publicly to sit out the upcoming Arena Football League season because of a contract dispute.
Once a key supporter of the new players' union, the formation of which helped avoid cancellation of the 2000 season, Brown did a complete reversal on Wednesday. He said he'd made a mistake joining the union because he'd gotten a ``horrible'' salary proposal from Firebirds management.
