Vic: Boy charged over rape of elderly woman

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with the rape of an 87-year-old Melbourne woman
on Easter Sunday.

The woman, from inner-suburban South Yarra, was watering her garden when a teenager
approached her and asked for a glass of water.

When she went to get the water, the offender followed her into her home and raped her.

Police say a 14-year-old boy has been charged by detectives from the Sexual Crimes
Squad last night.

The boy has been remanded in custody to appear in a children's court on May 14.
