ALBANY - Administrators with the Freihofer's Run for Women, an event in which the world's top middle-distance runners participate with more than 3,000 amateurs, may make the event more lucrative - and, by extension, more enticing - to elite Americans as soon as next year.
A day after the 29th running of the Freihofer's, event director George Regan said he hopes next year to designate a separate pool of prize money for just American runners, with the goal of wooing more recognizable athletes from the United States to the 3.1-mile race through downtown Albany.
